FORT MITCHELL, AL – A horrific incident has left the community in shock as a pregnant woman, Treasure Hennessy, aged 37, was found stabbed to death inside the Fort Mitchell fire station. The tragic event occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to reports from local news outlet WTVM.
Hennessy, who was eight weeks pregnant at the time, had sought refuge at the fire station, which was designated as a “safe house” for her after she moved out of her on-and-off-again boyfriend Bradley Stokes’ residence late last month. The couple had recently celebrated her pregnancy on social media, with Stokes expressing his happiness and gratitude for having her in his life.
Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor revealed at a news conference that Bradley Stokes had been waiting and hiding at the fire station, allegedly ambushing Hennessy and fatally stabbing her. Following the gruesome act, Stokes purportedly attempted to conceal Hennessy’s car behind a nearby barn before fleeing the scene in his own vehicle. Her car was discovered the next day when local farmers were trimming bushes in the vicinity.
Police subsequently tracked down Stokes at a hotel in Columbus, Georgia, leading to his arrest later that day. The Russell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Stokes faces charges of Capital Murder and is awaiting extradition to Russell County.
Stokes had only recently been released from prison in early June after serving a 16-year sentence for gun violations and a manslaughter charge. Taylor disclosed that the victim in that previous case was Stokes’ wife.
Shortly after his release, Stokes entered into a relationship with Ms. Hennessy, and their relationship had been on-and-off for the past couple of months, as revealed by Taylor.
The sheriff’s office had received at least two domestic violence reports filed by Hennessy against Stokes in recent months. The situation took a tragic turn when Stokes discovered Hennessy’s whereabouts at the fire station and, fearing a potential domestic violence warrant, allegedly ambushed and killed her.
Friends and family mourned Treasure Hennessy’s tragic death on social media, expressing their grief and disbelief. Her sister Tiffany posted, “I’m so lost, I’m so hurt. Never thought this would happen to us.”
The investigation revealed a knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from Stokes’ car. Sheriff Taylor outlined a possible motive, suggesting that Stokes feared Hennessy would file a domestic violence warrant, which would violate his probation and potentially send him back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
The community has been left devastated by this heartbreaking incident, and the memory of Treasure Hennessy will be cherished by those who knew her. Her tragic death serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing issue of domestic violence.
