Career Praveen Sood Ips
In 1989, Praveen Sood started his career as an assistant police chief in Mysore. In Bangalore, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order. He served as a police adviser to the government of Mauritius for three years.
In Mysore, he was a police commissioner from 2004 to 2007. In February 2008, he was appointed as an Additional Commissioner of Traffic Police in Bangalore, where he remained until September. 2011.
He received the Presidential Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2011, the Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2002, and the Minister’s Gold Medal for Distinguished Service in 1996.
In 2006 he was awarded the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award and in 2011 he was awarded the National Electronic Governance Gold Award. In just nine months after taking over as chief executive officer of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation in 2013–2014, the company’s revenue increased from Rs 160 million to Rs 282 million.
In addition to serving as chief secretary of the interior ministry, Praveen also holds the positions of additional superintendent of police for the Karnataka State Reserve Police and additional superintendent of police for the administration.
