According to sources, the incident occurred at Security Plaza and S Hanover Street, adding to the growing concerns surrounding recent violence in the area.
According to an unconfirmed report, a 40-year-old man was shot in the head by a 16-year-old boy. Emergency services, including Chester Ambulance 84-2 with backup from Medic 329-28 and Goodwill Ambulance of Pottstown, swiftly responded to transport the victim. The victim’s condition and identity are currently unknown.
Pottstown Police have reported an active shooting, indicating a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency Medical Services reported a traumatic arrest, with a crime scene being established and the area undergoing thorough examination. The Transportation Center is presently closed, with bus routes diverted to King and Hanover Streets.
Eyewitnesses described a scene marked by police cars with flashing lights and caution tape near the train station. This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another shooting just two days prior, which left two individuals injured.
In the earlier Sunday morning incident on East High Street, two males were reportedly in stable condition as of Monday. The victims, a 29-year-old Pottstown man and a 28-year-old Mount Penn male, were involved in a conflict during an after-hours party in a building at 213 E. High St., which houses a rap studio on its higher floors. Six shots were fired during the brawl that spilled into the street.
As the investigation into both incidents continues, the names of the victims from Sunday’s shooting have not been disclosed by the police. Witnesses are still being questioned, and footage from police street cameras and establishments along High Street is under examination. The community remains on edge as authorities work to address the recent surge in violent incidents in Pottstown.
