Perry Bell, the mayor of White, a community in northwestern Georgia, died in a motocross accident on September 15, 2022. According to The Daily Tribune, the freshly elected mayor died of blunt force injuries to the chest when his vehicle was hit by another rider at the Lazy River Motocross course near Dalton.
According to the site, Murray County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Sosebee said that the occurrence was a terrible accident that Georgian mayor Perry Bell, who collided with another biker on the track, could not avoid. He told the Daily Tribune in a statement:
“It was an unavoidable mishap.” According to what I hear, he was on a jump and then fell on top of another jump. He couldn’t do anything since another cyclist was just behind him. He couldn’t see him in time to prevent it.”
According to NBC, Bell was rushed to a trauma hospital after the event, where he was declared dead. Minor injuries were sustained by other cyclists engaged in the incident.
Friends characterize Mayor Perry Bell as someone with an adventurous spirit who is well-liked in his neighborhood.
Perry Bell, 54, won the mayoral election in the Bartow County hamlet of White earlier this year and was inducted into office in June 2022, only two months before his death in a horrific event. Following his sudden passing, Bell’s friends filled social media with sympathy messages that revealed insight into the Mayor’s life. Bell was characterized as a thrill seeker who enjoyed adventure sports in a Facebook post. He did base jumping, skydiving, race car driving, motorcycling, motocross racing, and mountain biking.
The post stated:
“I’m sure if he had the opportunity, he would’ve made the town he fell in love with a better place to live for all of the citizens.” Perry was also a role model for many.”
The tribute also demonstrated his fondness for musical instruments such as the guitar and piano. Bell was also a Big Brother volunteer, mentoring young guys in the neighborhood.
The message went on:
“Unfortunately, a post cannot portray the soul of this individual.” A genuine companion and much more. We had the privilege of sharing him.”
Interim Mayor Gary Crisp also shared his condolences and appreciation for Bell. He told WSB radio that Bell was a good man who cared for his neighborhood.
He said, ”
“He was basically a kind community member who wanted to serve the folks that lived here.”
There were no criminal charges brought in Perry Bell’s death.
There have been no criminal charges brought in relation to the death of Georgia’s mayor. Authorities have declared the death an accident, according to several sources. According to USA Today, Deputy Mayor Gary Crisp will take over the mayor’s responsibilities until the city stages another election to replace Bell.
