In a devastating incident on Sunday, October 8, Omar Taveras tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in East Elmhurst. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when Taveras collided with a car near the intersection of Ditmars Blvd. and 31st Ave. Reports indicate that he also struck a second vehicle before being thrown to the ground. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with severe head and leg injuries but, sadly, was later pronounced dead.
Omar Taveras’s passing has left the community in shock and mourning. Noemi Taveras, the former Case Manager at Harmon, Linder & Rogowsky, Esqs., expressed her grief in a heartfelt Facebook post. She reminisced about the cherished moments spent with Omar, recalling how they used to run around together when he picked her up. “I always looked forward to it. I definitely let time get in the way. Gone way too soon,” she wrote, capturing the sense of loss felt by friends and family.
The accident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving. The community mourns the untimely loss of Omar Taveras and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
