In a heartbreaking incident on Thursday night, November 9th, 2023, 18-year-old Brenna Caisse, a senior at North Andover High School in Massachusetts, tragically lost her life in a horrifying collision on Route 495 in Lawrence.

The devastating news was confirmed by North Andover High School Principal Chet Jackson, who expressed his sorrow for Brenna’s family in a statement on social media. He recalled fond memories of Brenna from their time in the Girl Scout troop, describing her as a sweet, fun-loving girl.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. when Brenna, driving an SUV, struck a camper while speeding in the northbound lanes of Route 495. The impact caused the SUV to crash off the road, slide down a slope, and catch fire. Brenna was ejected onto the highway, where she was struck by oncoming vehicles and tragically lost her life, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Three other occupants of the SUV, aged seventeen, sixteen, and fifteen, were treated for minor injuries at Lawrence General Hospital. They were identified as high school students from North Andover Public Schools.

Counseling services have been made available at North Andover High School to support students and staff during this difficult time. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
