Nicole Curtis, host of Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue, will go to Michigan for the first season to take on a big and historic project. Curtis bought a seaside property to save it from demolition. She was, however, unable to take over the refurbishment until lately. The presenter will take viewers on a comprehensive restoration trip as she changes the property she acquired over eight years ago in the three-part series.
According to HGTV’s news release:
“Nicole begins the first episode by summarizing the beginning of the renovation, when she stripped the home down to the studs, brought it up to code, and created a new first floor. She will re-start the renovation by tackling the outside with new paint, landscaping, windows, and porches.”
Nicole will also build a kid-friendly bedroom using a salvaged wooden boat to construct bunk beds, according to the press release. She will also build a unique staircase and a top-floor main suite with a breathtaking outlook. Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue begins on HGTV on Thursday, November 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
Meet Nicole Curtis in advance of her upcoming HGTV program, Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue.
Nicole Curtis is returning to Michigan to refurbish a historic lakehouse she initially saw eight years ago. The certified realtor and self-taught house designer is an advocate for preserving historic homes and revitalizing aging neighborhoods. Nicole is well-known for her role on Rehab Addict, but she has been renovating properties long before she got involved with television. Prior to the program, she worked full-time as a mother and real estate agent to repair and design properties.
The Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue presenter helped raise awareness for historical buildings and rescued others from demolition via her episodes. Nicole was said to have stepped aside from the rebuilding process for a while. However, as stated on her website, she took a hiatus to mourn the death of Tessa, the daughter of one of the builders on her team.
Nicole had become fond of Tessa and wanted to assist the family by creating online fundraising for her treatment. Tessa fought cancer, stage 4 Neuroblastoma, like a fighter and died in 2017. The Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue star rushed to social media to discuss the event, writing:
“I held my cool and strolled until I was out of sight before sprinting to my pickup. I sobbed uncontrollably. That moment continues to strike me like a ton of bricks.”
Since then, the HGTV star has returned to rebuilding and is preparing to return to screens with her next program, Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue. She said on an episode of the program that she intended to build a “light and airy” lake cottage. Although she had expected it to be a simple task, she quickly discovered how difficult and costly it was. She continued, saying:
“It will be some of my most significant work in the end since I now have a space to share great memories with my family and friends.”
For the last eight years, the home has been under restoration. Nicole bought the house and began remodeling it, but life kept getting in the way. She is, however, about to cross the finish line with the support of her team.
