Nicola Adams fought her first fight when she was 13 years old. She was the first female boxer to represent her country at the British team camp in 2001. Adams became the first female boxer to defend an Olympic title in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, after winning her first gold medal in London in 2012. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Adams knocked out Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland and won a gold medal in the event. Women’s fly class event by a split decision.
On January 23, 2017, she signed with promoter Frank Warren and made her professional debut with a 40-36 point win over Argentina’s Virginia Carcamo. Finally, as an undefeated champion, she announced her retirement from professional boxing in November 2019.
