Nicholas Smith Jr. (born April 18, 2004) is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Charlotte Hornets. During his senior year of high school, he attended North Little Rock High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was named the most employed person in the class of 2022.

Smith missed the first six games of the season through injury. He finally made his team debut on November 28, only being logged in for six minutes. He averaged 16 points, 2.3 assists and two rebounds in the next four games before sitting on Wednesday.

Smith last played on December 17, appearing just 20 minutes into Arkansas’ 76-57 win over Bradley. Since then, he has been rehabilitating his knee injury and has gradually made progress towards his expected return to the Razorbacks. Before his injury, he appeared in just five games, averaging 12.8 points across those non-conference competitions. In his absence, Arkansas battled to maintain the SEC’s game prominence and carried a 17-7 record in tonight’s home game.

college career

Smith is expected to become the starting guard for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2022–23 season, although a persistent knee injury kept him out for most of the season. Smith has only appeared in seven games this season, scoring a total of 69 points in 141 minutes. Smith is predicted to be a lottery pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
