Nicholas Tubbs passes away in Elyria Walmart shooting in Grafton

Grafton, Ohio – is in mourning after the heartbreaking loss of 21-year-old Nicholas Tubbs, a resident of the town and a native of Cleveland, who tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting incident outside Chestnut Commons Walmart. The devastating news was confirmed through a heartfelt social media post expressing profound sorrow and disbelief at the untimely passing of Tubbs.

The incident occurred on Thursday, November 2, just before 5:00 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire in the Walmart parking lot at 1000 Chestnut Commons Drive. Tragically, Nicholas Tubbs had been wounded and was immediately transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and subsequently to a hospital in Cleveland. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased early on Friday morning.

A 19-year-old man, Roosevelt Benton of Oberlin, was swiftly detained and charged in connection with the shooting. According to Elyria police, Benton faces one count of felonious assault in Elyria Municipal Court. However, authorities anticipate additional charges as the investigation progresses.
