Authorities are actively searching for Matthew Grant, a 22-year-old college student from New York who was last seen driving away from his home near the Rochester Institute of Technology campus on November 20, as reported by the police.
Based on Grant’s phone search history, his family fears he may be in the Adirondack Mountains. Described as wearing a green jacket and jeans, he was driving a 2014 charcoal gray Jeep Cherokee with Michigan license plate ESR8141. A recent update from the family on social media hinted at the possibility that he might be near Whiteface Mountain.
New York State Park Police are assisting in the search by checking parks in the area during regular patrols, while the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office leads the missing persons case, as confirmed by Fox News Digital.
Grant’s family revealed that he had searched maps of the Adirondacks, North Country, and Appalachian Trails. Despite telling his roommates he was meeting a friend, his vehicle was last traced to Exit 36 outside Syracuse.
In a Facebook post on Monday, RIT acknowledged the family’s report that Grant had a desire to explore the outdoors beyond Rochester, prompting authorities to expand their search area.
