Morris was born in Germany to a German father and a Kenyan/Swedish mother. Dirk and Jessica Nowitzki, his parents, fell in love as soon as they met in February 2010 at a charity event for the Sports for Education and Economic Development (SEED) initiative. It was NBA All-star weekend in Dallas, and one of those evenings was for charity when he met his future wife Jessica, who was working at an art gallery in Dallas. His father got into trouble in 2009 when his ex-fiancée was caught in a scam. In a one-on-one interview with Graham Bensinger, he opened up about traumatic experiences in his life and his life, which he had kept secret for years, suddenly became public. When asked about the old arrest, his fiancée replied that he was as surprised as everyone else and did not know when it happened.
