Michelle Odinet Career
In June 1991, Michelle began her career by working for the district attorney’s office in New Orleans. She was a part-time prosecutor there. Odinet began working as a full-time assistant attorney in November 1993. She began as a part-time employee for the poor defense program in 1996. Mike Harson, fifteenth district attorney, appointed Odinet as the next assistant district attorney following the departure of Robin Rhodes in December 1996. Michelle has experience managing insurance defense cases at a private legal firm.
Due to many family concerns, she has temporarily resigned from her job. She continued her work at the public attorney’s office in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, in 2019. In 2020, Odinet was selected as a judge at Lafayette City Court. She replaced Francie Boulian by switching to the Republican party. Of the 43% vote of the nonpartisan Jules Edwards III, Odinet received 56%.
