Michael Flatley Announced That He Has Been Diagnosed With Aggressive Cancer

According to his team, Irish-American dancer Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” cancer. On January 11, the 64-year-old star’s crew turned to Instagram to post a monochrome photo with lengthy text detailing his health issues.

“Dear friends, we have some personal news to share with you: Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with a malignant cancer. He has undergone surgery and is being cared for by an outstanding medical team.”

Michael Flatley was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 16, 1958. He is the son of an Irishman who immigrated to the United States in 1947. He rose to fame in 1994 after giving a seven-minute performance in the Eurovision Song Contest. It was later expanded into his stage play Riverdance, which featured traditional Irish music and dance.
