William Stephen Belichick, often known as Bill Belichick, was born on April 16, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States.
Bill got his name after his godfather, Bill Edwards, a coach who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Belichick competed in athletics while attending Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he played center and tight end for the football team. Along with football, he participated in lacrosse and squash, eventually captaining the lacrosse team in his final year. Later, in 1975, Belichick began his coaching career as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda for $25 a week.
