The latest news of Mat Ishbia
Following an incident with Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia, Denver Nuggets All-Star center Nikola Jokic assessed a technical fault during the second quarter of Game 4 on Sunday. Suns guard Josh Okogie rushed into the stands late in the second half trying to rescue a loose ball. He landed in the middle of a crowd of fans on the backstreets, among them Ishbia, who took the basketball.
When Jokic tried to steal the ball from Ishbia, he was clearly trying to get it quickly so the Nuggets could start their attack. The ball bounced back into the crowd and Ishbia was pushed back by Jokic’s elbow.
Jokic was unrepentant after the Suns’ 129-124 win. Jokic explained: “The fans are the ones who put their hands on me first. “I think the job of the league is to protect us.” Maybe I’m wrong. I recognize him, but he’s a fan. Isn’t he?
Nuggets coach Michael Malone said: “(Jokic) is about to get the ball, and some fans are holding the ball as if he wants to be a part of the game. Just give up the ball, lad.
After a few confused minutes, as the referees tried to figure out what was going on, Jokic was called up for a technical foul. The Suns converted the next free throw.
In game 4, Jokic got a technical foul and tried to steal the ball from Suns’ goalie, Ishbia
The fourth match of the Nuggets-Suns series on Sunday included a wild second-quarter streak involving two-time MVP, club owner and retired Hall of Fame point guard.
Suns guard Josh Okogie fell into the stands in pursuit of a lost ball off the touchline with 2:36 remaining in the second half. The ball fell into the hands of a fan on the field. Meanwhile, Joki believes it is his responsibility to collect it. He did so forcefully, snatching the ball from a fan holding it.
What about that fan? He’s Suns owner Mat Ishbia, who bought the team from exiled previous owner Robert Sarver mid-season. After breaking the ball out, Joki shoved Ishbia in the chest, causing the Suns owner to slide back into his seat. In the video below, Ishbia wears a green jacket:
