“This has been a very sad & heartbreaking couple of weeks, knowing that my sweet friend Mary Bergh had a stroke. Today she lost her battle and went to a better place. I met Mary in college where we were sorority sisters and have so many great memories. We stayed in touch over the years and I recently planned an Alaska vacation for She and Matthew. She was so young, healthy, beautiful, and smart. I remember her loving chemistry (I couldn’t relate) and ended up being a chemistry teacher. She taught 40 years! It just seems surreal. We are all still in shock. Please pray for Heather & The Bergh family: Matthew, Taylor, Sarah and Megan. Who wrote a beautiful tribute to their mom below.”
Known for her profound dedication to her students, Mary’s chemistry classroom was a space where the joy of learning was palpable. Her genuine enthusiasm for sharing the intricacies of science fostered enduring friendships and loyal bonds with those she taught. Her optimistic outlook on life and her willingness to offer unwavering support made her a beacon of comfort and encouragement for all who knew her.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary’s commitment to her family was unwavering, serving as a source of strength and love for her husband, Matthew, and their three daughters, Taylor, Sarah, and Megan. Her special connection with her sister-in-law Amy, as well as her niece Anna and nephew Joe, further exemplified the depth of her compassion and care for those around her.
As the GSMST community and her loved ones grapple with the loss, Mary Bergh’s legacy of selfless service and dedication to education will continue to inspire generations to come. Details regarding her obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family, as they honor and celebrate the life of this exceptional educator and cherished individual.
