Mel advised her on that call not to worry about the FBI looking into the matter, saying, “They can’t force you to speak up… They get nothing!” Brenda’s body was found in the woods, where the police had buried her, thanks to Mary.
Mary was a key witness in Mel’s subsequent trial for Brenda’s murder. But in 1991, Mel was exonerated of murder despite recorded testimony and discussion.
