Mark Boyce Obituary: Former Ice Hockey Player of Uxbridge Bruins dies at the age of 36

Ontario, Canada – The tight-knit community of Uxbridge, Ontario, is grieving the loss of a beloved resident and former ice hockey star, Mark Stephen Boyce, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the young age of 36, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 16, 1986, Mark was a cherished son to Lynne and Stephen Boyce and a beloved brother to Kristina, Pamela, and Michael.

Uxbridge Bruins Alumni shared Mark Boyce’s death news by saying,

Mark Boyce was one of the most talented pure goal scorers who just wanted to play with his friends and home town team. From 2002/03 to 2006/07 Mark played 4 seasons totalling 116 regular season games – 74 goals, 100 assists and 312 PIM.His heart and loyalty to his teammates was larger then his stick height and when he wasn’t smiling he was singing Backstreet Boys. He had some great chirps, and then he would score on you.R.I.P. Mark. 💛

Mark’s love for the game of hockey was palpable, and he exhibited an exceptional talent for scoring goals. As a former Uxbridge Bruins ice hockey player, he relished the camaraderie of playing alongside his buddies and neighborhood team. Throughout his hockey journey, Mark played 116 regular season games over four seasons (2002-2003 to 2006-2007), leaving an indelible mark with 74 goals, 100 assists, and 312 PIM.

More than just a hockey player, Mark was a dedicated father to his son Beckett and a loving family member. His heart and loyalty were larger than life, always prioritizing the well-being of his loved ones. Mark’s infectious smile, charm, and genuine love for family and friends endeared him to all who knew him.

He is survived by his son Beckett (Jen Carveth) and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Katrina, Brayden, Brooklyn, Carter, Bentley, and Dawson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Uxbridge Bruins Hockey Club also paid tribute, stating:

With tremendous sadness and heartbreak, the Bruins organization is mourning the loss of our former player, Mark Boyce.An immensely talented player, Mark was fiercely loyal to his teammates and his hometown, and he took great pride in being part of the Bruins for parts of four seasons between 2002 and 2007.The division’s leading scorer in the 2006-07 season, he could light up a room as easily as a scoreboard.The Bruins extend their deepest condolences to everyone touched by this tragic loss.

A viewing and funeral service will be held at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Uxbridge Cemetery. Friends are invited to the Boyce Family home after the service to reminisce and share cherished memories of Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity meaningful to the donor or something Mark would appreciate. The memory of Mark Boyce will forever resonate in the hearts of the Uxbridge community and beyond.
