Childress was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1985. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from George Mason University in 2007. After enrolling at American University Washington College of Law, he earned his Juris Doctor there in 2014.

Following graduation from law school, Childress worked as Judge Henry Floyd’s law clerk on the Fourth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. He subsequently enlisted in the US Air Force and worked as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate.

Marcus is an experienced trial lawyer and expert in comprehensive investigations. He has tried more than 20 criminal jury cases and regularly counsels clients on Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) enforcement proceedings.

In addition, he advises clients on inquiries into violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), human rights issues, and other white-collar issues.

Marcus took more than 60 depositions and interviewed significant witnesses while working as the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol’s investigative counsel.

He managed more than 100 criminal investigations while serving as a Special Assistant US Attorney in the Middle District of Georgia and an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the US Air Force.

Marcus worked as a systems engineer with a focus on software system requirements before going into law. His expertise in developing proposals for government contracts and participating on-site in engineering teams benefits clients.

Marcus is the Co-Chair of the company’s DEI Protection Task Force because he is enthusiastic about issues affecting the Black community.

In this capacity, Marcus assists businesses and organizations in navigating the legal and political concerns associated with the Supreme Court’s rulings on race-conscious admissions.

Marcus participates actively in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity as a City Lead and is a part of the DEIA Task Force of the DC Bar Association.
