“There is good coordination. The RSS headquarters in Nagpur is less intrusive. In response to a question about his views on the coordination between RSS and the Modi government, Devi told ET that there was no statement from Nagpur and that the government could issue its own ruling.
Since the former BJP-led federal government under Vajpayee was constrained by conflict between the RSS and its affiliates, his joy with the RSS-BJP government collaboration was significant.
During those tumultuous years, when RSS affiliates such as Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) criticized the Vajpayee government on various issues, Madan Das Devi acted as the liaison between RSS and BJP. “It is not a one-party system.
It is a coalition government. Therefore, government has many different aspects. After that, the Ramjanmbhoomi issue (prompted by VHP) also progressed significantly. On many issues, they have all taken up positions. So there was a dispute,” added Devi, noting how the strong views expressed by RSS affiliates under Vajpayee led to trouble.
Devi acknowledges the “more aggressive” time of the former BJP-led central government, referring to the aforementioned RSS-linked sites. He argues that the permissive stance of the RSS and its affiliates can create space for the elected leader’s ideas to come to fruition.
“When a leader has complete control over all decisions, their vision can be broader. According to Devi, the administration (Narendra Modi) is making choices with good results.
As organizational secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthee Parishad (ABVP), Devi has previously trained many current crop of BJP senior leaders, including Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, JP Nadda and Dharmendra Pradhan, among others. Devi also attributes the attachment to the growth of his ABVP wards in leadership positions to their organizational training.
Devi, who has been battling illness and is facing paralysis on his right flank, however his mind is clear and continues to receive guests.
Devi and LK Advani regularly collaborate as RSS contact points with BJP. He did not comment on rumors that Advani will be a candidate for president next year.
These are speculative issues. While he (Advani) is also available and a potential possibility, I don’t believe there is still an ongoing debate about this at the moment. But I am not involved in the decision making and individuals like us should not. “The BJP should choose its presidential candidate and everyone should accept that choice,” he said.

On Monday morning, veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Madan Das Devi passed away at this site. She served as the general secretary of the organization.
An 81-year-old Hindutva thinker from Maharashtra has died at Rashtrotthan Hospital after a long illness, an RSS official told PTI.
According to him, Devi’s remains will be placed at the Keshava Kripa site of the local RSS headquarters from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Monday before being taken to Pune on Tuesday for final ceremonies.
He claims that RSS ideology plays an important role in helping the top BJP and RSS officials hone their leadership.
Devi, a full-time Pracharak (advocate), is staying in Bengaluru to receive treatment for an advanced age-related condition.
Devi has held positions such as organization secretary Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and general secretary of RSS. According to the RSS official, the highest-ranking BJP officials at the national level you see now all benefited from him developing their leadership.

According to RSS, Shri Madan Das Devi, a senior Pracharak of the organization, died at around 5 a.m. at Bengaluru’s Rashtrotthan Hospital. By age, he was 81. He was the Co-Sarkaryavah of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the All India Organization Minister of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parish.
