Madalyn Minehart obituary: Manchester University former alumni passes away at 26

Richmond, Indiana, mourns the loss of a bright soul as Madalyn O. Minehart passed away at the young age of 26 on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Reid Hospital. Born on August 6, 1996, in Auburn, Indiana, Madalyn left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Madalyn was a standout graduate of Eastside High School’s class of 2015, where her talents shone in academics, volleyball, basketball, and softball. Later, she pursued higher education at Manchester University, graduating in 2019 with a major in History and Religious Studies. Her love for sports and her dedication to academics were evident as she not only excelled in her studies but also played basketball and actively participated in the campus Peace Studies group.

Driven by her commitment to service, peace, community, and inclusion, Madalyn found her calling within the Church of the Brethren, where she was baptized in 2022. She was not just a student; she was a mentor, a friend, a cherished daughter, and a loving sister. Those who knew her remember her for her intellectual curiosity, quick wit, kindness, and empathy, traits that made her an extraordinary person.

Madalyn leaves behind a grieving community, including her mother, Margo (Whitman) Trevino, her father George Minehart, stepmother Danielle (Massey) Minehart, paternal grandfather Richard Minehart, maternal grandmother Kathy (Whitman) Ross, her brother Gabe Trevino, and her sister Avery Minehart.

A visitation in Madalyn’s memory will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, located at 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. Following the visitation, funeral services will commence at 3:00 PM at the same location.
