Professional basketball player Liz Cambage has represented both the Australian national team, the Opals, and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She stands 2.03 meters (6 feet 8 in) in height.
Cambage was created by an Australian mother and a Nigerian father in London, England. She started playing basketball when she was 10 years old and soon rose to become one of Australia’s most promising young players. At the age of 17, she made her professional debut for the Opals, contributing to the team’s Olympic bronze-medal victory.

Liz Cambage announces shocking Nigeria switch: “In cahoots.”
Former Australian Opals star Liz Cambage has decided to play for Nigeria, whose teammates she is alleged to have insulted racially during a 2021 pre-Olympics exhibition match.
Cambage allegedly said, “Go back to your Third World country,” during Australia’s match against Nigeria before to the Tokyo Games, which resulted to her expulsion from the Opals team. She has not represented Australia since the event.

“Why do Nigeria want me to represent them when I live in Australia?” Cambage informed Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report.
“We’re asking for my departure from the Australian team so I can play for Nigeria. I’ve been collaborating and speaking with them ever since all that transpired. I’m trying to say that people don’t know the truth.
Cambage has consistently denied uttering racist remarks at Nigerians, despite the evidence of players from both teams that day.
The illustrious Opal Jenna O’Hea informed the Australian Broadcast Commission that she heard Cambage say, “Go back to your third-world country.” Unidentified Nigerian athletes said News Corp that Cambage dubbed opponent’s center Victoria Macaulay a “monkey” after elbowing her earlier.
Cambage, however, is adamant about her innocence and claims to have access to recordings of the incident that will clear her.
“Not many girls and I get along. I don’t like using racist slurs, she said.

Prior to the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup, when Australia went on to win a bronze medal, Opals head coach Sandy Brondello stated ESPN that she had spoken to Cambage about joining the Australian team, but that the center had indicated no interest in doing so.
Since Cambage was not available, the Opals turned to WNBA great Lauren Jackson, and thanks to her heroics, Australia defeated Canada to win the bronze medal. Jackson finished the contest with 31 points.

“My prior Olympic experiences were terrible. Rio’s Olympics were a disaster. One of the worst experiences of my life, the Olympics in Rio were the fault of the coaching staff and team.
I would appreciate a new beginning with teammates who value understanding, admiration, and respect the same way I do. I’ve been talking to a Nigerian coach, and he’s had my back.
In July 2022, Cambage left the Los Angeles Sparks, leaving the WNBA temporarily without a team.
