The Flatrock hockey team, along with family members and friends, is in mourning following the passing of Lee Hawco. Lee was a dedicated and committed member of the Flatrock hockey team who contributed significantly to the sport. He passed away after battling undisclosed health-related issues, with the specific illness that led to his death not yet made public by the grieving family.
On various platforms, including Gonzaga Vikings Hockey, an outpouring of condolences has been extended to Lee Hawco’s family and his extended hockey family in Flatrock. The community has come together to support one another during this difficult time.
In an announcement regarding Lee Hawco’s passing, Bevey Hawco expressed her condolences and wrote, “I would like to send condolences out to my aunt Bun & uncle Leo, Tony, Billy, Joanne & families as well as Wanda, children and families. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace Lee.”
Flatrock, located in Newfoundland and Labrador, has a senior hockey club known as the Flatrock Flyers. From 1992 to 2004, the team competed in the Avalon East Senior Hockey League as a proud member. During this period, the Flatrock Flyers achieved significant success, earning the Herder Memorial Trophy as the league champion in 1993, 1997, 1998, and 2003. They also secured second-place finishes in 1992, 1995, 1996, 2001, and 2003.
