Larry Marino Obituary: Police Sergeant of Phillipsburg Police Department, NJ passes away

In a somber announcement, the Phillipsburg Police Department revealed the passing of Sergeant Larry Marino Jr., a cherished member of the community and an esteemed officer. The sad news was shared on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, through an official statement on the department’s social media page, where they extended their condolences to the Marino family, uttering, “Our prayers are with the entire Marino family, RIP Sergeant Larry Marino.”

A longtime resident of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Larry Marino Jr. was not only a dedicated police officer but also a beloved son, husband, and father. Born to Joan Sciabica and the late Phillipsburg Police Department Chief of Police Larry L. Marino, Sr., he grew up in a family deeply rooted in law enforcement. He carried on this legacy with devotion and honor until his unfortunate demise, the exact circumstances of which have not been disclosed at the time of this report.

Sergeant Marino retired on June 30, 2021, leaving behind a remarkable 25-year career in Warren County’s law enforcement. His journey began as a juvenile detention officer at Warren Acres within the Juvenile Justice Commission, eventually transitioning to serve as a police officer in Alpha Boro before finding his place in Phillipsburg. Over the years, he played pivotal roles, including K-9 handler and overseeing the School Resource Officer Program.

Additionally, Sergeant Marino made a lasting impact beyond the realm of policing. He was a significant figure in the Junior Police Academy, contributing to the growth and development of the youth. Moreover, he wore multiple hats, serving as a Licensed Realtor at Weichert Realtors, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the community. Known for his warmth, generosity, and ability to bring smiles to even the most challenging times, Sergeant Larry Marino Jr. will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
