Lane Kokshoorn and his son killed in plane crash in New South Wales

A heart-wrenching incident struck northern New South Wales as Lane Kokshoorn, a cherished father in his 30s, and his young child lost their lives in a devastating light plane crash. The tragic event occurred on Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m. on Winegrove Road in Lilydale, near Grafton, when their recreational kit plane collided with powerlines.

The crash, which led to a blaze, claimed the lives of Kokshoorn and his son, who was under the age of ten. Kokshoorn, reportedly a pilot associated with a commercial aircraft in Japan, was on a flight that departed from Gold Coast the previous day. After spending the night at an undisclosed location, they resumed their journey yesterday.

Acting Inspector Aaron van Schaik confirmed that the recreational aircraft struck a powerline, causing it to crash into the banks of the Clarence River. The unfortunate incident resulted in a power outage for approximately 186 households in Lilydale. However, power has since been restored to the affected areas.
