Grand Rapids, MI – The University of Michigan Health-West Hospital community is mourning the loss of one of their own, Registered Nurse Kyle Kelting, who tragically passed away at the age of 35 on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Kyle, a dedicated healthcare professional and loving family man, is remembered for his exceptional qualities, which touched the lives of many. His cause of death remains undisclosed at this time.
In 2013, Kyle earned his bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, embarking on a fulfilling career in nursing. He recently worked at the University of Michigan Health-West Hospital, where he made significant contributions in the Emergency Department and Surgical Prep and Recovery Unit, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and patients alike.
One of Kyle’s remarkable qualities was his resilience, which shone brightly during challenging moments. His unwavering dedication provided stability to his family, especially during a harrowing period when his daughter was born 15 weeks prematurely, necessitating a lengthy 95-day stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Outside of work, Kyle enjoyed outdoor activities such as motorcycle riding, camping, and spending quality time with loved ones. He had a zest for life, relishing in family gatherings and creating fond memories.
Kyle’s love story with his wife, Kristen, began in 2013 while they worked together at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. They married in September 2015 and were blessed with two children, Kendalyn (3 years old) and Kayson (1 year old). Kyle’s profound involvement in his children’s lives, particularly in caring for Kendalyn’s special needs, showcased his loving and dedicated nature.
Kyle’s humble demeanor and strong faith were evident to all who knew him, leaving no doubt that he is now in a better place, rejoicing with Jesus in heaven.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by Kari VanKlompenberg, a Wyoming, Michigan resident, to assist Kyle’s family with funeral expenses. The “Kyle Kelting” fundraiser has raised $17,220 USD of its $20,000 goal, and contributions are welcomed to support the grieving family during this challenging time.
