Kim Petras told People magazine that Madonna told her to “go get it, bi**h” after introducing Sam and her on stage. Kim continued, “I get it” was the feeling she got afterwards.

After the Grammy Awards, Madonna spoke on Instagram about why she felt the need to support Sam Smith and Kim Petras. Madonna wrote: “It’s an honor for me to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras at the Grammy Awards.
I was going to award Album of the Year, but I decided it was even more important to give the award to the first transgender person to perform at the Grammys. And on top of that, she got a Grammy!!” (sic)
Sam Smith is the first openly non-binary performer to win a Grammy, while Kim Petras is the first openly transgender woman to do so. For the song Unholy, the duo took home the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Kim Petras stated that she feels she has a “special connection to Madonna” because the legendary performer “has been sexist, and she’s not necessarily just super-feminine or super-masculine, and she’s just Madonna.” Madonna, Kim continued, has given her a lot of “hope and strength” and is an inspiration.
