Kerry Clanton Obituary: Southeastern Louisiana University alumni dies in Mandeville, LA

COVINGTON, LA – The community of Covington, Louisiana, is mourning the loss of Kerry Hughes Clanton, who passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 43. Kerry’s vibrant presence and genuine spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on January 9, 1980, in Houston, TX, Kerry grew up to be a loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished friend. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Business before embarking on a successful career as an Independent Insurance Adjuster.

Kerry’s heartwarming smile and witty humor had a way of brightening any room. He was a one-of-a-kind individual who had an infectious personality and an unmatched zest for life. To know Kerry was to love him, and his authenticity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 23 years, Andrea Clanton (nèe Alford), and their two children, Landon (9) and Natalia (4). His four-legged companion, Lila (3), was also an important part of his life. Kerry’s legacy is carried on by his father, Bourley Hughes Clanton III, his sister Leah Ramirez (Alex), and his extended family members.

Kerry’s life was marked by his deep love for family and his unwavering devotion to his roles as a father, husband, brother, and son. He found joy in spending time with his loved ones, whether it was watching Landon play baseball or sharing dress-up moments with Natalia. Kerry was known to be an avid supporter of his favorite football team, the Saints, and could always be found cheering in section 111 during home games.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Kerry’s life at St. Timothy on the Northshore in Mandeville, Louisiana, on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The visitation will commence at 10am, followed by a service at 11am. A reception will follow the service, providing an opportunity for loved ones to share cherished memories of Kerry.

In honoring Kerry’s vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to wear tie-dye and Saints attire. In lieu of flowers, the Clanton family requests donations to be made in Kerry’s memory to organizations close to his heart, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL), or Pontchartrain Conservatory.
