Julian Casablancas, 44, of New York answers the phone while driving through New York State and greets the caller with a very enthusiastic “hello!” He has chosen to stop the car in order to do the interview, as evidenced by the background noise.
Throughout Casablancas’ 20+ year career, he co-authored six albums with the Strokes and wrote some of their most recognizable songs. Now, he characterizes his surroundings in a less than enthusiastic manner: “Cross-shaped poles and trees can be seen everywhere. I wish I could send you photographs.
