Scranton, PA – Julia Mazur, a graduate of Holy Cross High School in 2021, has left a lasting impact after bravely battling cancer. Her journey was a testament to her incredible talent, unwavering work ethic, and boundless kindness. A member of the La Salle Academy Class of 2017, Julia’s presence resonated far beyond her academic achievements.
Among her roles, Julia was an integral part of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ ice crew for seven years. Her dedication and hard work were evident in various positions at the practice facility, endearing her to the local hockey community, where she was admired and beloved.
Reflecting on their bond, Kayla Morcos shared on Facebook, “To my mini-me Julia Hockey Mazur… our endless conversations about Disney, Jordan Fisher, hockey, work, our future goals, what new Timberland boots or Loungefly backpack we bought. We were always oh so classy eating Wendy’s baked potatoes with extra butter in the car haha.”

“20-Year-Old Julia Mazur, a longtime member of the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Penguins ice crew and student at Wilkes University passed away Saturday after a heroic battle with stage 4 metastatic melanoma cancer. She was considered a go-getter, and person with many titles.”
Kayla fondly recounted moments at Penguins games, where they would meet by the elevator during intermissions and take laps around the arena. She expressed gratitude for the time spent together, highlighting Julia’s unwavering positivity and determination in her battle against cancer.
