Toronto, Ontario – The Toronto community is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of Joyous Magdirila, a 23-year-old resident and graduate of Northview Heights Secondary School. Joyous met a tragic end on Sunday, September 24, 2023, leaving his family and friends shattered. News of his untimely demise was conveyed through a poignant social media post that read, “Rest in peace manung ko Joyous Magdirila, you are forever in our hearts manung.”
The identity of the 23-year-old victim, who suffered a fatal stabbing incident near Finch Station on Sunday, has now been officially disclosed by the Toronto Police Department. In a press release issued on Monday, the police revealed that they had received an emergency call shortly before 10:00 p.m. regarding an incident near Yonge Street and Hendon Avenue.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a male who had been stabbed, lying in the curb lane of southbound traffic on Yonge Street. Despite receiving prompt medical attention, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Authorities identified the victim as Toronto resident Joyous Magdirila.
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and the Homicide Unit of the Toronto Police is urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward and assist in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
