Jonathan Kolia Favreau was born in Flushing, New York, on October 19, 1956, to Charles and Madeleine Favreau. He went to Hebrew school.
He graduated from The Bronx High School of Science in 1984. He attended Queens College but left before graduating. He later moved to Chicago to pursue a career in comedy. He also temporarily worked at Bear Stearns on Wall Street.
