John Reese obituary: 83 years old man passes away in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

The town of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, mourns the passing of one of its esteemed residents, John R. “Jack” Reese, who peacefully departed on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 83. Born on November 10, 1939, to Leonard and Ruth Reese, Jack was their first child, and he grew up to become a beloved member of the community.

Jack was a devoted husband to his wife of 62 years, Victorene “Vicky” Reese, and a loving father to his son John, and daughters Michelle Cook and Lisa Feil. He found immense joy in his family and cherished the moments spent with his 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, though he bore the loss of his grandson Walter Hanson III with great sorrow.

Beyond his role as a family man, Jack was an active member of the community, dedicating his time to organizations such as the Ironheads Motorcycle Club, Hillside Rod & Gun Club, and Arnot Sportsmen’s Club. His passion for motorcycles and his involvement in these clubs reflected his adventurous spirit and camaraderie with his fellow community members.

Friends and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. (www.carletonfh.com) in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Kristi A. Webster, will follow at 5 pm, where Jack’s life will be celebrated and cherished memories shared.

Jack will find his final resting place at the Catlin Hollow Cemetery in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (912 Killian Rd. SW, Lilburn, GA 30047) or the Wellsboro Firemen’s Ambulance Association (21 Crafton St., Wellsboro, PA 16901), both organizations close to Jack’s heart.
