His departure followed a tragic motorcycle accident, leaving his family, friends, and the motocross community in profound grief. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Pincher Creek Community Hall.
Jason was a gifted Canadian motocross racer, showcasing his remarkable talent from an early age. At the mere age of four, he embraced the thrill of riding and soon became a familiar face on the motocross circuit. Renowned for his fearlessness, agility, and boundless energy, Jason left an indelible mark on the motocross world.
The tragic accident occurred on September 10, 2023, during a motocross race, shattering the motocross community. Despite the valiant efforts of the medical team, Jason succumbed to his injuries. The loss of this vibrant young soul shocked everyone, and the void left by his absence is immeasurable.
Jason’s journey in motocross began at a young age, instilled with a natural talent that propelled him forward. He was a beacon of courage, resilience, and determination, which shone brightly even in the face of adversity. Following the accident, he endured severe injuries, including fractures to his legs and shoulder. Jason leaves behind his loving parents, Dave & Calinda Slingerland; his sisters, Candice (Colin) Slingerland, Rahne (Carter) Berreth, Darcia, Destiny, and Maddie; his little brother, Marshall; and his devoted girlfriend, Shayna Martens.
Jason’s legacy extends beyond the motocross track. He was a compassionate and caring individual, always ready with a comforting hug after a tough day. He was a true gentleman, known for his warm smile, infectious laughter, and genuine kindness. He cared deeply for others and made a positive impact on everyone he met.
His love and devotion to family, friends, and his girlfriend were unparalleled. Although 18 years wasn’t nearly enough time, the memories and love he shared will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him.
