James Arness’ career
James’ brother, Peter, visited him while he was recovering from a leg injury in the hospital. Peter advised his brother to take a radio course during his long recovery. Similar to how James completed the course and started to enter the entertainment industry thanks to a teacher’s recommendation. In 1945, he worked as a broadcaster for WLOL. In Minnesota, WLOL is a radio station near the twin cities.
His career as a radio performer is flourishing. On the contrary, he pursued acting as another entertainment career option. And he had to put in a lot of effort before appearing in more than 30 films over the course of 40 years.
