Charlotte, North Carolina, – mourns the unexpected loss of a promising young talent, Jack Romer, who passed away at the age of 23. Jack, a dedicated multi-state tax accountant and consultant at Deloitte, was a resident of Charlotte and a graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2022.
Born on March 27, 2000, in Greencastle, Indiana, Jack was the beloved son of Martin and Colleen Romer. He was the epitome of ambition, striving to achieve his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license before the age of 25. Jack’s passion for learning was boundless, evident in his diverse interests, from academia to outdoor adventures, wildlife, hiking, and live music venues. He embraced life with a fervor that balanced work and play seamlessly.
Jack’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; he cherished enduring friendships in Greencastle and at IU, and his vibrant spirit lit up any room he entered. He leaves behind his older sisters, Haylie and Corrie, his grandmother Sandra Clay, and his deeply cherished parents, Martin and Colleen.
His love for the community was reflected in his passion for charitable causes. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Putnam County Humane Society, a cause close to Jack’s heart.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6th, from 9-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church narthex in Greencastle, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Catholic Rite of Committal will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
Jack Romer’s untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, reminding everyone to cherish life and the profound impact one can have on others. He will be remembered as a bright light gone too soon, leaving behind a legacy of ambition, compassion, and a love for life that inspired all who knew him.
