India Deibler-Love, owner of The Lucky Wolf in Paw Paw, sadly passes away

Paw Paw, MI – Tragic news has struck the Paw Paw community in Michigan with the sudden and unexpected passing of India Deibler-Love, leaving behind a loving husband, Jason, and their young children – 5-year-old Wolf and 2-year-old twins, Juniper and Henning.

India was a shining light within the community, known for her warm-heartedness and her dedication to creating a nurturing space for all. Alongside her husband, she relocated from Southern California to Paw Paw, endeavoring to establish The Lucky Wolf as a café and theater hub. Their vision was to cultivate a secure and all-embracing environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds, artists, culture enthusiasts, and everyone in between could freely express themselves, connect, and relish the arts.

The unexpected loss of India has deeply affected many, prompting an outpouring of condolences and support for the grieving family. Her sudden passing follows a challenging time for the family, having nearly lost their youngest son, Henning, to bacterial meningitis less than a year ago.

In efforts to aid Jason, who now faces the role of a single father with three young children and the responsibility of managing two small local businesses, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by Kimberly Smith. The fund aims to assist with funeral costs and additional expenses that may arise, acknowledging the profound loss and the challenges ahead for the Deibler-Love family.

India’s dream, realized through The Lucky Wolf, continues to serve as a testament to her vision of inclusivity and community cohesion. The establishment has become a place where individuals feel a sense of belonging, a rarity in today’s world. The campaign calls upon the local and global community to uphold India’s legacy by supporting Jason in preserving the sanctuary she helped build.

Contributions to the GoFundMe campaign and local patronage at Warner Supply Do It Center and The Lucky Wolf Paw Paw are encouraged as gestures of solidarity during this trying time. $100,000 target is set to raise funds. It is stated on GoFundMe page,

Hi, my name is Kimberly Smith and I am raising money for my dear friend and beloved member of our Paw Paw community, Jason Deibler-Love and his family. It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Jason’s wife, India Deibler-Love who died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19th, 2023. She left behind her loving and devoted husband Jason, her 5-year-old son Wolf, and 2-year-old twins Juniper and Henning.

Everyone has a light. But there are those extra special ones whose light shines just a little bit brighter. That was India. Everyone who met her was struck by her beauty, inside and out. She left such an imprint on our hearts and souls. And the world and our community has suddenly gotten a lot dimmer now that she’s gone.

And to make things worse, India’s tragic passing comes less than a year after nearly losing her and Jason’s youngest son Henning to bacterial meningitis. In times like these it can seem impossible to go on. Jason is doing his very best to continue moving forward, but he has a long road ahead of him juggling it all now as a single father with three young children, two dogs, and two small local businesses. We’re hoping that everyone will come together to support the Deibler-Love family in this very difficult time of need.

India and Jason moved to our small town of Paw Paw, Michigan from Southern California. They worked very hard to create a cafe and theatre space as the The Lucky Wolf Paw Paw . Their dream was to create a safe and inclusive place for community, artists, lovers of culture, misfits, and everyone in between to be able to express themselves, learn, enjoy the arts, meet other kind and creative people, and so much more.

The Lucky Wolf is a place where anyone who walks through the door feels welcome and like family. That is a very rare thing to find these days, and something we need more of in this world. One of the common things newcomers say when they first visit is, “Wow, I had no idea a place like this existed at all, let alone in such a small town – I’ll definitely be back!”

India was the visionary behind what the Lucky Wolf has become, and Jason and the rest of the staff are the ones that helped bring it to fruition. With India’s passing, we’re calling on our local and global community to help Jason keep the doors open for all of us. Let’s come together to create a legacy of India’s vision for community, fellowship and inclusion over the best food, drink and culture you’ll find anywhere.

The limit we’ve set here is a drop in the bucket compared to what this family needs, but it feels like a good goal to strive for. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for any support you can offer.
