The Ilford, Essex community is grappling with the tragic loss of a beloved medical professional, Dr. Tasneem Mahmud, who passed away from an apparent suicide after battling depression and anxieties. The Imperial College London graduate was found dead, leaving behind a community in mourning.
Dr. Tasneem Mahmud’s academic achievements were notable, with a 1st Class Honours in an intercalated BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London. She was actively involved in the university community, serving as a former Wellbeing Rep at ICSMSU and an experienced Mental Health Officer at Imperial College Union during 18-19. Her diverse skills extended to the fundraising sector, where she worked as a Student Caller, and she also had expertise in the tuition industry. Additionally, she showcased her creativity as a freelance Henna Artist and Singer.
A proud alumna of Woodford County High School For Girls, Dr. Tasneem Mahmud’s sister, Tab, shared the devastating news of her passing on social media. Dr. Mahmud’s love for being a doctor, despite the challenges within the NHS, was evident to those who knew her. The General Medical Council (GMC) also mourned her death, acknowledging her dedication and describing her as a friend to many.
