In a heartbreaking incident, a murder-suicide unfolded in the northern part of Phoenix, resulting in the tragic deaths of Ila Washington and Darryle Mooney. The Phoenix Police responded to a domestic violence call on Sunday morning around 8:45 a.m., near the intersection of 1st Avenue and Villa Maria Drive, close to Central Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Despite attempts to communicate with the individuals inside, using both a loudspeaker and a cell phone, officers were unsuccessful in evicting them. Upon entry, officers discovered the lifeless body of Ila Washington, a 70-year-old woman who had been shot and killed. Additionally, they found Darryle Mooney, a 59-year-old man, who had taken his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
