The Former Fort St. John Flyers and Huskies player, Austin Braid, tragically passed away at the age of 29. Paul van Nostrand, the president of the Fort St. John Flyers, conveyed the news via a Facebook statement, disclosing that Braid succumbed after a prolonged battle with brain cancer.

Braid’s hockey career spanned seasons with the Fort St. John Huskies from 2014 to 2016 and the Senior Flyer from 2016 to 2018, after which he returned to his hometown, Terrace, B.C.
Van Nostrand fondly remembers Braid as a dedicated and coachable player who played a pivotal role in the North Peace Hockey League Campbell Cup Championship of March 2018. He recalled Braid’s love for the rink, describing him as a young man with a perpetually radiant smile.
