“His Dark Materials” Season 3 Is Set To Be Released On HBO

Season 3 of His Dark Materials, an eight-part fantasy television series, will premiere on HBO on December 5, at 9 p.m. ET, and fans are overjoyed. The first two volumes, The Enchanted Sleeper and The Break, will be published on Mondays, while the next four will be released weekly until December 19.

While no specifics on the final season of His Dark Materials have been announced, it will be the final season of the multi-award winning series. Dafne Keen will play Lyra Belacqua, Kit Connor will voice Pantalaimon, Ruth Wilson will play Marisa Coulter and James McAvoy will play Lord Asriel Belacqua, among other characters. The first episode of His Dark Materials, based on Philip Pullman’s trilogy of the same name, premiered on November 4, 2019. The first season has eight episodes, while the second season has seven episodes.

What can we expect from the third season of His Dark Materials?

The final episode of Season 2, sahaettr, aired on December 28, 2020. During the episode’s post-credits scene, Roger and Lyra summon each other to an unknown place, and the trailer for season 3 of His Dark Materials depicts Lyra dreaming of their reunion. The speaker warned of a “real conflict going on” and Asriel vowed he was “gathering the best from every corner of the world and will sacrifice everything” to “ensure victory”.

Meanwhile, Lyra fantasizes about going to the kingdom of the dead, and her mother visits Asriel (Lyra’s father) and begs him not to disappoint their daughter. Furthermore, Will Parry (Amir Wilson) is said to be planning to “take the knife for Asriel.” The trailer ends with an impressive line from Asriel:

“The government wants you to feel scared… On the other hand, the government has no influence over us… We are free now!”

The third installment in Pullman’s trilogy, The Amber Spyglass, serves as the basis for season 3. According to Goodreads, the synopsis is as follows:

“Will is the one with the knife. His mission now, with the support of the angels, is to bring that great, terrible weapon to Lord Asriel – as directed by his dying father. But how could he go looking for Lord Asriel without Lyra? Only with her help can he unravel the countless schemes and conspiracies that have befallen him.

It continues:

“Two great powers of many worlds are preparing for war, and Will must locate Lyra, as both are on their way to battle, an inevitable journey that will even lead them to the land of the dead.”

The next four episodes of Season 3 of his Dark Materials are titled The Intention Craft, Lyra, and Her Death, No Way Out, and The Abyss, following The Enchanted Sleeper and The Break.
