He lost the Republican nomination in 2021 to former state assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, who prevailed in a four-way race. Mehta sued Singh for slander in that same year.
In the lawsuit, Mehta accused Singh of spending more than $300,000 on a “smear campaign to flout the truth and create a series of repeated lies” through press releases, digital advertising, and mailers, according to local news sources like northjersey.com, New Jersey Globe, and Insider NJ. It claims that Sing’s campaign singled out Mehta because of his professional experience as a pharmaceutical executive, accusing him of advocating for Big Pharma harmful opioids and branding him a “baby killer” for peddling “abortion pills.”

Hirsh Vardhan Singh Career
