British soul singer Heather Margarita Small was formerly the lead vocalist for the group M People.

January 20, 1965, saw the birth of Heather Small. Her mother was a waitress and lived apart from her father in the West London neighborhood of Ladbroke Grove. Her father is a Barbados native and former bus conductor.

She shared a council estate in West London with her mother. Following her parents’ divorce, she and her father continued to have a straightforward connection. She said that because her father saw her every night, the divorce had no negative effects on her.
