In a somber report from the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a fatal incident unfolded on Friday evening involving a single-car accident, resulting in the untimely death of Heath Mahl, a 41-year-old resident of Attica. The tragic event occurred around 8:47 p.m. on County Road 35 in Venice Township, Seneca County, just north of Township Road 44.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mahl was driving a GMC Acadia north on County Road 35 when he entered a curve, veered off the right side of the roadway, and collided with a fence. The vehicle continued its path over an embankment, ultimately colliding with several trees. Seneca County Emergency Medical Services swiftly transported Mahl to Mercy Health in Tiffin, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
The Patrol Division revealed that alcohol is believed to have played a role in the collision, noting that Mahl was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The vehicle, a GMC Acadia, was towed away through the services of Hess Towing and Recovery.
The response to the incident involved multiple agencies, including the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, the Attica Fire Department, the Seneca County Emergency Medical Services, and Hess Towing and Recovery, all collaborating with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Details about Heath Mahl’s obituary and funeral plans are anticipated to be released by the grieving family as they come to terms with this tragic loss.
