Geraldo Rivera leaves ‘The Five’ at Fox News amid Growing Tension

Geraldo Rivera, a popular media personality, recently announced his departure from Fox News’ afternoon show, The Five. In an interview with The Associated Press, he shared that the decision was influenced by “the growing tension over editorial differences” on the show.

Rivera took to social media to inform his followers that his last appearance on The Five will be on June 29 and 30. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged that being the odd man on the show has its challenges. However, he reassured fans that he will continue to take on the role of Big Reporter.

The Five features a dynamic cast of co-hosts from various Fox News shows who engage in lively discussions about current affairs. Rivera has served as a co-host of the rotating freelance show with Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov. Recalling her experience on the show, Rivera describes it as a bumpy but enjoyable adventure that spanned several years.

Rivera’s decision to leave The Five was influenced by growing tensions both before and after the camera. These tensions go beyond mere editorial differences and personal discomforts, he explains. In the end, he felt that the situation was no longer worthy of him.

Joining Fox News in 2001 as a war correspondent, Rivera has held various reporting and leading roles at the network. Known for his insightful commentary on current events, he signed a new multi-year contract in 2021 to serve as a general reporter for Fox News.

While his departure from The Five was a personal decision, Rivera noted that management has not actively pursued him to stay. As of now, he remains open to new adventures and hopes that this won’t be his last.

Fox News has yet to respond to a request for comment on Rivera’s departure. In a tweet, Rivera confirmed his departure from The Five and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity while also mentioning that he will remain as a Major Correspondent for the time being.

Morning, it is official, I turn off @TheFive. My last scheduled appearances are Thursday and Friday, June 29 and 30. It was a great run and I appreciate having this opportunity. Being the odd man out isn’t always easy. Currently, I am still a Reporter at Large.
