Career
Despite having just one year of college left, Hill declared himself ready for the 2008 NBA draft. Then, after graduating from IUPUI as the sixth all-time leading scorer with 1619 points, he became just the second IUPUI player to declare early after Carlos Knox in 1997. Over the following two months, Hill worked out with other NBA teams.
On July 14, 2008, he scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in his first summer league game as a Spur. During the summer, Hill struggled with his shooting, hitting just 2 of 25 baskets and 1 of 6 three-pointers. In 2009, George spent the bulk of his summer working on his point-guard talents with player development coach Chad Forcier and his jump shots with Spurs shooting coach Chip Engelland.
