London, Ontario, is reeling from the profound loss of Gavin Mifflin, the esteemed General Manager of Sally Creek Golf Club, who passed away, leaving his family, friends, and colleagues in a state of shock and disbelief. The news of his passing, confirmed on Thursday, September 28, 2023, has left the community deeply saddened and reflecting on the legacy of a man known for his dedication to education and his contributions to the sports and hospitality industry.
Gavin Mifflin’s educational journey began at Humber College from 1993 to 1995, setting the foundation for a career marked by excellence and passion. In the years 2011 to 2013, he furthered his studies at Fanshawe College, where he made significant contributions as the Voice of Fanshawe Athletics. During his time at Fanshawe, he served as an in-house announcer for game days and special events, becoming the Master of Ceremonies for the Annual Varsity Athletic Awards Banquet & Gala.
His professional odyssey included a distinguished 13-year and 7-month tenure as the Director of World Events & Travel at CSTT Sports Management International, beginning in February 1998 and concluding in August 2011. Subsequently, he took on pivotal roles in various organizations, including Golf Operations & Event Director at Golf North – Paris Grand and Director of Business Development & Client Care at Sherwood Travel.
In January 2016, Gavin assumed the role of Director Of Golf Operations, where his expertise shone brightly. His responsibilities included overseeing golf operations staff, managing daily operations, schedules, and purchasing, ensuring the complete satisfaction of guests both on the course and in the clubhouse. His commitment to the industry was further demonstrated as a Professor at Fanshawe College, where he shared his knowledge and passion with aspiring professionals.
