Gary Plauche real footage and shooting video goes viral on Twitter and Reddit

A recently replayed video of Gary Plauche’s infamous shooting from 1984 has sparked a wave of debate and public interest. The case involving Baton Rouge native Gary Plauche is a remarkable chapter in American criminal justice history, sparking complex ethical discussions.

The shocking video, widely shared on social media platforms, depicts the moment Gary Plauche shot and killed Jeffrey Doucet in front of a television camera. Doucet, who is known to the Plauche family, kidnapped and abused Jody, son of Gary Plauche.

This disturbing incident has been covered extensively in books and documentaries, including “Why, Gary, Why?: The Story of Jody Plauche,” written by Jody Plauche herself and released in 2019.

Jeffrey Doucet was once a trusted friend of the Plauche family, but he betrayed that trust by committing atrocities against Jody Plauche. After Louisiana police discovered and arrested Doucet, Gary Plauche learned the full extent of his son’s abuse, leading to a plot of revenge that resulted in a shocking act of violence.

At the airport when Doucet returned to Baton Rouge, Gary Plauche confronted him and shot him in the head. Plauche was immediately arrested and initially charged with second-degree murder. However, the charge was later reduced to manslaughter.

Plauche did not contest the charges and was sentenced to seven years of probation, five years of probation and 300 hours of community service. Even though Plauche’s actions were illegal, they continue to raise tough questions about justice, revenge, and the length of time that parents can do to protect their children.

Gary Plauche passed away from a stroke in 2014, until he finally insisted that he would take the same actions again to protect his son.
