Fort Gibson High School student Isaih Atwood passes away in tragic accident

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the Fort Gibson High School community was struck with profound sadness as they learned of the unexpected passing of sophomore Isaih Atwood. The announcement, made through a heartfelt Facebook publication, conveyed the deep sorrow felt by all who knew him.

Isaih Atwood was more than just a student; he was a young man known for his infectious joy, vitality, and a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. Described as bright, clever, and full of adventurous spirit, Isaih left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His joyful nature extended beyond his family, reaching the entire community and neighborhood, making those around him genuinely happy.

In response to this tragic loss, Tapha Akers initiated a GoFundMe campaign on December 6, 2023, aiming to provide financial support to Isaih Atwood’s family during this difficult time. The campaign, with a goal of $6,000, has garnered immense support from the community, raising $4,365 through 63 donations.

A statement from the fundraiser reads, “In order to help Teler and Zach with the emotional burden that comes with these tragic events, we are setting up this fundraiser. Isaih was an amazing young man who’s life ended way too soon. The entire family is struggling to process the loss of our sweet boy. Funds will go to help pay for his funeral service and to help my sister and her family as they take time to grieve.”
